While working as a geriatric social worker at Soundshore Medical Center in New Rochelle, NY, she advocated for patient needs and guided families in selecting home care or nursing homes. As a social worker for the Beth Abraham Comprehensive Care Management Program in New York she helped develop services designed to allow the elderly to remain at home. At Kingsbridge Heights Nursing Home in New York her services included providing individual and group psychotherapy for residents and families. She also worked in the Home Care Department of Family Services of Greater Norwalk, Connecticut and was instrumental in creating their companion program.

Ms. Schweiger is a certified social worker, licensed master social worker, and C-ASWCM (certified-advanced social work case manager). Professional affiliations include membership in the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers, the National Association of Social Workers and the Connecticut Geriatric Society.
